cw: violence

With this game/book I intended to experiment with a surreal dating simulator narrative that subverts the player's expectation of what outcome will come from their choices with many different possible endings based on the player's choices.

When I first started playing the game, I had no idea what it was going to be like: it was a dating simulator, just like the introduction said, and the maker (Jack) provided a lot of different options, and each option brought a completely different story, which was a huge amount of work. The whole game reveals an atmosphere of absurdity, subtlety and fear, which can lead to unexpected results when making choices. In terms of writing code, Jack was adept at using Twine to make a variety of different branch options, which was highly playable, and he used "loop" code in one of the branches, I was stuck in that level, repeatedly choosing the same option, until I chose another option (repeated three times). I just cleared the level and got the reward. Maybe that's the charm of persistence? In addition, the text distribution of the game is very interesting, the layout is clear, I don't feel boring or dizzy when reading, perhaps Jack can consider the change of font color when the NPC's mood changes? Because this is a text-only game, changing the font can bring more vigilance and freshness to the player.

A very fun game that I couldn't help but lol, I thought the idea was ingenious. It also has just the right amount of difficulty to keep the player alert enough so that they don't mess with their phone, while not being so nervous that they can't enjoy exploring other options.
